Amelia Earhart never came back from her 1937 flight over the Pacific, but her family history is landing in Bloomington next week. Nancy Earhart Burt — a second cousin three times removed of the aviator — will give a talk at Martin Luther Campus, 1401 E. 100th St., on Wednesday, July 8, at 2:30 p.m., according to the Sun Current.
Burt is expected to share family stories and photographs and offer her own take on a relative most people only know from history books and a disappearance that's fueled speculation for nearly 90 years. The event is free, and the paper says those planning to attend should call ahead to reserve a spot at 952-885-8805. More information is posted at tiny.cc/nancy8.
It's a small-scale gathering, but for anyone who grew up on the Earhart legend, it's a rare chance to hear from someone with an actual branch on that family tree — right here at a senior campus off 100th Street.
