Gunman Robs Nicollet Avenue Holiday Store on Fourth of July

TLDR: A man pulled a gun on a 19-year-old clerk at the Holiday Stationstore at 7901 Nicollet Ave. and ran off with cash in the July 4 robbery.

Here's what police have said about that night. Around 10 p.m. on July 4, while most of the city was watching fireworks, a man walked into the store and set a drink on the counter as if he were going to buy it. When it came time to pay, he pulled a gun from his waistband instead of a wallet.

He threatened to shoot the 19-year-old employee at the register and demanded the money in the till. The clerk gave it to him, and he ran north from the east side of the building.

A witness outside saw him leave the store with the gun still in his hand. Police said the store's surveillance video matched the employee's description of the man and showed him running north from the east side of the building. Officers searched the area that night and didn't find him.

The Bloomington Police Department is led by Chief Eric Kittelson.

It's a bad night to be working a register on Nicollet: a gun pointed at you over a drink you were about to ring up, during the city's biggest night out of the summer. If anything changes, like an arrest, charges, or the dollar amount, we'll update this story.
