Gyros Grill is back. About a year after the restaurant closed its old spot to move, it has reopened at a new location in Bloomington.
The new address is 8417 Lyndale Ave. S. The old one was 1710 E. Old Shakopee Road, where the business got its start in 2001 as Cedar Market and Deli. Founders Imad and Rand Ansari ran it there for 24 years before closing in 2025. Today Imad Ansari co-owns the business with his son, Kareem Ansari.
The owners said the old place was holding them back. The business kept getting busier, but the kitchen, the dining room and the parking lot didn't grow with it. "It was time for us to find a larger space close to our previous location and expand to fit the needs of the community," Kareem Ansari said. The new spot is still close to the old one, so regulars won't have to go far.
The menu will look familiar. Gyros and Philly cheesesteaks are still the main draw, and the halal Mediterranean dishes like falafel and kufta kabobs are back too. New this time is a cafe-style menu with pistachio lattes and Sweet Nia's Dubai cookies and chocolates. The grocery section with imported Middle Eastern foods made the move as well, so you can still pick up pantry staples with your lunch.
The restaurant reopened at the end of October and is open daily. Its website has the menu and a coffee-and-dessert page, and it says online ordering is coming soon.
