Hocus Pocus closes Mall of America's outdoor movie season Oct. 17

TLDR: Movies at the Star wraps up in the mall's North Lot with the Sanderson sisters, and the movie starts at 8 p.m. Car passes are sold out, but $7 lawn tickets were still on sale.

Mall of America is ending its outdoor movie series with Hocus Pocus. The 1993 Halloween favorite plays Saturday, Oct. 17, in the mall's North Lot at 2131 Lindau Lane. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the film starts at 8 p.m.

The mall says the 90 minutes before the movie include music, lawn games, photo spots and food trucks. Parking in the North Lot is free.

You'll need a ticket. The $25 car passes, which covered one vehicle with up to 6 people and its own parking spot, are already sold out. That leaves the Lawn Lounge Pass at $7 a person, which comes with a lawn chair and access to the food trucks and pre-show activities. Tickets are sold on the mall's outdoor movies ticket page.

If the weather turns bad, the mall says it will show the movie the next evening at the same time. In practice that means Sunday, Oct. 18, at 8 p.m. It's mid-October in Minnesota, so a lawn seat after sunset will be chilly even if the night stays clear. Bring a blanket and a warm layer.

Hocus Pocus is the last film in a 3-movie series. Top Gun: Maverick showed Aug. 22, and The Mighty Ducks was moved from Oct. 10 to Thursday, Oct. 15, so you can catch 2 movies in the lot this week.
