Shock and Ride: Nickelodeon Universe hosts Halloween dance parties on Friday nights through Oct. 30

TLDR: Nickelodeon Universe is holding a Halloween dance party at its South Entrance every Friday night in October, and each one ends with the park's Fright Lights show. 3 Fridays are left: Oct. 16, 23 and 30.

Mall of America's indoor theme park is hosting a monster-mash dance party this month. Shock and Ride is on the mall's events calendar for Oct. 2–30 at the Nickelodeon Universe South Entrance. Organizers describe it as "the ultimate Halloween dance party," hosted by Team Nick, with spooky songs and a chance for guests to show off their best monster moves.

It isn't a nightly event. Nickelodeon Universe's own events page says it happens on Friday nights in October, from 7 to 9 p.m. The Oct. 2 and Oct. 9 parties have already happened, so 3 are left: Oct. 16, Oct. 23 and Oct. 30, the night before Halloween.

Each night ends with the Fright Lights Spooktacular, a Halloween light show that organizers say turns the park into "a glowing wonderland." The light show also runs on its own. The park says Fright Lights plays Friday through Sunday at park close, at the South Entrance, from Sept. 25 to Oct. 31. In the park's telling, a "funky witch" has taken over the place and can make the lights and music groove. So if Friday doesn't work for you, you can still catch the show on a Saturday or Sunday.

Neither the mall's listing nor the park's pages give a price, and neither says whether you need a ride pass to join the dance party. The mall's listing points to its ticketing site, tix.mallofamerica.com, so check there or with the park before you go. If your family is coming this weekend, the park's events page also lists a PAW Patrol meet-and-greet Oct. 16–18.

The mall has a busy October calendar. The Hocus Pocus screening on Oct. 17 closes out its outdoor movie season, so a Friday dance party followed by a Saturday movie would make a full Halloween weekend without leaving Bloomington.
